Kids Fashion On The New York Fashion Week

Before Arianna Reid could sit in the front row at Anna Sui’s fashion show Wednesday evening, the 8-year-old had to finish her math homework. Wearing gold ugg boots and clutching a silver sparkly handbag, Arianna watched the parade of colorful prints with wide eyes. Afterward, the third-grader said she might want to be a model when she grows up instead of a veterinarian.
“Since the recession, people are just more accepting. There’s just a different feel out there, a warmth,” said Ms. Lepore. Having kids around “sort of relaxes everything.” Like Ms. Lepore, many designers bring their children or grandchildren to the show. Other kids watching the runways during the last week were the offspring of audience members, including sponsors and members of the press.
